Title: Night in the town
Pairing/group: NEWS, tentative KoyaShige
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Gore, blood, and unabashed use of 'Shige's life is hard' trope
Notes: Supernatural/JE fic, so there is a hilariously random insertion of Sam/Dean/Castiel that doesn't necessarily mean you won't understand the fic if you haven't seen Supernatural (I rather encourage reading without prior knowledge xD)
The first in a series of 'KoyaShige face the SUPER weird/unnatural' A,K.A. Shige's life is hard.

Shige wasn’t ashamed to say that when he’d woken up this morning he hadn’t been expecting to end up face to face with some magical creature. And he certainly hadn’t planned on having to run for his life, nor feel the thundering of his heart as he ran as fast as he could, listening to the growling and snapping from behind.

New York City hadn’t added any bits pertaining to rabid creatures in their brochure, and if he’d had time to actually breath, you’d better believe he’d have complained. Loudly.

As it was he could barely even yell for help, breath caught in his throat, as his feet beat against the ground, trying not to slip on any pebbles or cracks in the floor.

“SHIGE!” Koyama wailed from beside him, “What do we do?” he cried, terror etched on his face.

Shige couldn’t answer, instead he grabbed Koyama’s hand and made a sharp left on the path, hoping he was right in thinking it’d take them to the closest exit and onto the street. Once they were out of the park, it’d be a lot easier to cry in terror and actually have someone hear them.

He heard the thing roar, and could practically feel it’s hot breath on his neck, Shige shivered, determinedly bursting ahead, dragging Koyama along. There was no way in hell he was about to get mauled by a creature that until ten minutes ago he’d claimed hadn’t existed.

He could almost hear Ryo snort through his tears of mourning when he heard how he’d died. Shige would at least have dignity when he died, damn it!

Seconds later the exit came into view, the pavement illuminated by a pair of lampposts, and Shige for one had never seen anything so beautiful in his life.

Diving between them he turned to Koyama, “Yell!” he panted, turning around to see the shadow of the creature shrink and the actual being ram itself even closer.

Koyama screeched and ran even harder, his grip was slick with sweat, but he clawed at Shige’s arm, hurrying him up and pulling him even closer. “We’re going to die!” He yelled.

The street was dark, and having let Koyama lead him, they soon found themselves in an alley between two high class apartment buildings, light was scarce and Koyama ambled forward and knocked into a pair of garbage cans, that sent the two flying onto the ground.

The creature roared, sending a splintering shudder down Shige’s back.

“Run!” Shige yelled.

Koyama scrambled onto his feet, and tried to pull Shige up, only to hear a yelp of pain. Shige, had twisted his ankle.

The thing came closer, it was grotesque to say the least, and Shige was positive he’d never seen anything like it before. Glowing red eyes peered up at him, inching closer and closer, it’s long nails clacking loudly against the pavement, breathing shallow and labored. The pungent smell of rotting flesh flew to Shige’s nose and he had to steel himself to keep from gagging.

Shige heaved himself upright, holding tightly to the hard wall as Koyama slipped an arm around his waist and pulled him. Shige limped forward as quickly as he could, trying to ignore the pulsing ache from his ankle, and damn it did it hurt!

“Can you run?” Koyama whispered, practically shaking in terror.

“No,” Shige grunted, and Koyama tightened his grip on his waist, hand digging into his hip, likely to leave a pretty bad bruise. That is, if Shige managed to survive this.

The thing paused a few yards away, seeming to just size them up, eyes glowing an even brighter red, it bared it’s teeth and Koyama shivered, breath hitching at the sight of blood, caked all over its teeth. A pair of fangs slid forward, pure white, clean and contrasting so horribly with the scaly and matted fur around its face.

What the hell was it?

Koyama’s breath tensed, and from the corner of his eye, Shige could see the horror-stricken face he was wearing.

Shige’s heart ached, blood rushing through his very ears he made a split second decision, he grabbed the hand Koyama had on his waist, squeezing it he lightly balanced his weight off of Koyama’s shoulder and glared at the monster.

Whatever the hell it was, Shige was sure of one thing, it wasn’t getting Koyama. Bad enough it’d be getting him, Koyama could still get away.

Shige waited, he knew it would lunge, it had to. Basic animal instinct when you cornered your prey, attack and kill.

And within moments it locked in on Shige’s defiant glare and seemed to take it as a well served challenge, with a growl it attacked.

Without hesitating, Shige pushed Koyama away and bellowed. “RUN!”

The animal descended on him, Shige fell back, head banging into a trash can on the way down, he saw stars for a moment before he felt the pain.

Long jagged spikes ran along the creatures back, as it rolled on top of Shige, he felt them slide into his stomach, and let out a blood curdling scream.

He could do little else as the thing’s nails racked over every inch of his body it touched, it was almost as though it were searching for something.

And that’s when he heard it, the slurping, and then a stab to his neck. His nostrils were filled with the scent of decay, and death. He couldn’t scream anymore, he felt blood dribble out of his mouth and felt this throat clench at the oozing, nearly suffocating. He flailed, and instead felt more pain as his hands made contact with the skin, sharp scales cutting into his fingers, until he suddenly felt nothing but cold.

This couldn’t be normal, he thought to himself. Then again getting attacked by some unknown creature in the middle of one of the busiest cities in the world didn’t seem too normal either.

His eyes felt heavy, and the thing suckling from his nape didn’t feel too heavy, nor smell too bad anymore.

Until suddenly it was gone, and in its place a blinding light flashing in his face.

Shige squinted, and tried to ask for help, and instead started coughing, lungs suddenly empty he gasped for a fix of oxygen.

Warmth enveloped his chest as he was practically pushed upright by pressure, his chest heaved and blood simply poured out. He tried to breathe through it, coughing and panting, as more and more blood crept through his windpipe.

“Call him, Dean!” He heard, from a voice very close to his ear, as hands worked harder against his chest.

He wanted to tell them to stop, tell them to find Koyama, to leave him to die in peace. To stop pounding on his chest, stop prolonging the misery.

“Cas! Cas!” Another voice cried, Shige couldn’t very well see who however, although the English told him it wasn’t Koyama.

“Come on, come on,” the voice above panted, thrusting on his chest, pushing the blood out. Shige fought to open his eyes and saw a flushed man, locks of soft brown hair framing his chiseled face and determined brown eyes.

“Yes, yes, stay with me,” he ordered, pressing harder with each encouraging word. Shige could only sputter.

“Cas, damn it, we need your help!”

He heard a rustle and suddenly another man came into his vision, with the most startling blue eyes Shige had ever seen. There was something unearthly about them, as they stared down at him for an entire second in curiosity and then somehow turning to recognition and near panic, before he felt cool hands press to his head, this was not how the trip is supposed to go, Shige thought wildly to himself before he felt his eyes fall closed.
