Last week was pretty full of the final few Oscar movies and my first big G&E order with AMV. Friday was extremely stressful, but I have some ammo now to get some improvements made to the new department. Hopefully all this work won't go unnoticed in my paycheck. I know it's certainly getting me a lot of overtime. But a regular 40 hr job getting me more money would be better.
I finished my Oscar marathon, and set a new record. I watched all 58 nominated films (though one of them was only a clip of about a sixth of the total movie-the short film Lifted.) I only had to pay for a few of them, which is even more impressive, since my annual lack of money in March can be avoided (or at least due to this reason) this year.
On Friday night, Alison's best friend Amber and her boyfriend Rob surprised us by stopping by after they made a trip to Lowe's in Jersey City. We had a great time and drank quite a few drinks. Everyone says I should be a bartender. I'll consider it.
Then on Saturday, we went to see the third and final August Wilson play put on by the Signature Theater Company, "King Hedley II." It was the most intense of the four I've seen, and definitely the most violent. It's the 80's play in his 20th Century series. I hope his final installment, "Radio Golf," comes to Broadway soon. We also had a nice Cajun dinner with Joel and Ben before the show. Any excuse to have chicken fried steak can't be passed up.
Sunday I watched the final film on the list (Best Foreign Film winner The Lives of Others) and did laundry. Then Quentin, Krys and Mary came over for the awards ceremony. We did the usual prediction game, and I LOST!!! I only got 11 correct predictions, Krys got 12, Quentin 13, and Alison won with 14. So the statue gets to stay at our apartment for another year. And we'll be hosting next year's get together. It's quickly becoming a tradition for the five of us to do Oscars together and pass the honors of the next year on like a baton. We even had the same meal as Krys made last year (pad thai.)
Today could either be extremely hectic, or extremely relieving. We'll wait and see.
