various and assorted
tried to get in to see john vanderslice, mates of state, nada surf, and some other bands at the parish last night, but it was sold out and wristbands only, so instead i met up with phoenix and lori at casino el camino and we ended up hanging out there most of the night as various folks came and went. it was fun to get out with some of my favorite girls in town for some drinking and fun. and cara paid me the kindest compliment at the end of the night, had me grinning like a goober i'm sure. but that's okay, because she complimented my smile. ;)
this morning, i got up 15 minutes earlier than usual to give myself time to pick my new keyboard up from the apartment office. (musical keyboard, not computer -- apparently there are those who assume i'm talking about a computer keyboard when i say keyboard, how depressing is that.) that sucker was big. and heavy. not exactly my ideal way to wake up and experience a hangover, but i managed to get it up into my apartment and still make it to work on time. i have a feeling i know what i'll be up to this weekend. :)
in other news, i got a promotion yesterday, effective april 1. very exciting, especially because although i've been on the trajectory for a while and have been playing the senior role lately anyway (and did so at my last job several years ago), i wasn't really seeking the promotion, so it was a big pick-me-up when i really needed one. it's always nice to find out that all your hard work is actually being noticed and appreciated. so little seems to be going right for me lately...it was just what i needed.
tonight i may try to go see tilly and the wall, but something tells me that'll be packed too and my evening will end up something like last night, which is fine by me. will probably meet up with the usual crew for st patty's day drinks and who knows what. it's friday, anything could happen.
...i really miss the person i got to be when i was in a relationship. i miss loving someone, being loved, building something... but hey, drinking and flirting and so forth aren't so bad. :)
i don't actually look like any of my userpics. my hair is short short short. i need to take some new pictures.
