holidays

I've never been a fan of holidays. They have always seemed an odd concept. You leave your friends and loved ones to go to another place for a short period of time to have fun. The problem for me comes with that. Leaving my friends to have fun is an odd concept. I've always prefered cadet camps, 36 hours, etc. You go with friends to have fun in a new location. This week, however, is slightly different. I'm looking forward to spending a week with my fiance in a quite place where I can read, write, exercise and relax. No work, no hanging around at airports/stations, etc. Just some time away from my computer, the restaurant and the odd person who is starting to grate on me (scowls at cheese puns). Pol has had a hard few months with finals, and it's really going to give her a chance to relax and regroup. Me, I'm just happy she'll be relaxing. I do dislike leaving my friends and commitments, but it seems worthwhile and enjoyable this time. I'm still not a fan of holidays, but a few days away may be a welcome break.
