Hello all,
With this entry my summer break has come to a quiet and relaxing end. It was much more enjoyable, productive and worthwhile than last. I'm not so sure though I'm ready to usher in another semester of work, work and some more work. I don't want to adhere to the sterotypes some people have of going abroad, which is that the coursework is easier than the home land. That may be for some talented and gifted minds because the semester has yet to begin and I already expect a tough semester. I'm not complaining about summer reading because I know I'm just being lazy about it but it's something you assign in high school. I think we read enough and we're tested enough during the actual school year. I'm just not a fan of reading a 400 page week in one week before classes begin. Such is life I suppose and for some, that is probably a stroll in the park. Anyhow, I expect Prof Rask to be just as difficult as he was last semester but I think the big difference will be how I learn from him. Econometrics was so abstract and theoretical and I hope that time around will be application-based. We shall see about that. Expect to hear a lot of griping about school since I can't deliver it in first-person. It took me a while to pack though it shouldn't have since my options are limited as to how much I can take. It was difficult deciding what I couldn't take because I enjoy throwing everything into boxes and bringing it up to 'Gate. I'll get to taste what it's like for Mila, X and other int'l amigos. Pack light, pack efficiently, that's the word...My flight is a red-eye from JFK, which should be fun. The semester hasn't even begun and I'm already pulling an all-niter, not cool. I'm not a fan of airline food and it should be interesting as to what Virgin Atlantic will provide as a Hindu Vegetarian meal. I get in 9am on Friday and will be meeting two girls up (hopefully if we can all find each other at Heathrow) and take a cab (split the fare) to our dorm. Interestingly enough, the 17 of us are not all in one building and its unisex also, sucks. For those of you interested, here's how the living arrangements are:
33 Colonnade, London WC1N 1JA
Flat 33 Phone# 0207 713 1982
Charles Keeney
Barnes Kelley
Dillon Kolkmann
Martin Pinnes
3 Gower Street, Second Floor, London WC1E 6HA
Flat 3 Phone# 0207 681 8990
Adeniyi Adebamiro
Atit Amin
Bradley Ernst
Chad Hawk
Hasan Kazi
Max Scherr
Flat 33 looks like its gonna be a non-stop party place throughout the semester. I can already tell you that I'm not looking forward to living with a new roommate. Though Hasan is a friend, he's no Xavier, that's for sure. It's that comfort zone you get in, especially after 2 years, and you basically know each other and their habits. You need to go through all the stupid shit all over again and it doesn't help that Hasan is noctural. Hopefully, it'll work out for the best.
Anywho, it is getting late and I've pretty much said everything that I've needed to. I wish everyone the best of luck this semester. Work and study hard, but don't let it get in the way of having fun, especially in the new digs, Birchizzle. Yup, that's about it. Goodnight and God Bless!
