Quite an article
This link, leads to an article about Dubai. It is pretty blunt about the city, and worth the read.

The thing is though that I cannot stop thinking about Dubai as a microcosimic representation of the rest of the world. Replace the Emiratis with the Ultra Rich, the ExPats with most of us comfortable folk, and the workers (read slaves) with the invisible underclass that manufactures our cheap goods and food, and does all that work that we don't want to and you have what is not an unreasonable picture of the global condition.
Things may fall apart faster in Dubai, but that makes sense, there star rose faster as well. Its kinda scary but I would not be surprised if where they go we follow.
