wow.

and i say wow, even though i [just me i know] think that Boyd looks at Echo more as a daughter.
but even with the almost-squick factor of that [MY belief, mind - i think i'm alone in my belief :)] this was beautiful.

i realized part of why i feel so good, reading your fic - it *feels* like poetry. something about the cadence...

seriously. wonderful.

You have made my night. Seriously. Thank you.

Funny story, I also think Body sees Echo more as a daughter figure, and a true Body/Echo story is squicky for me too, but for this story it just fit.

That and I wanted to write something besides Boyd/Claire for a change (not for long, because i <3 B/C)

And you praise, for real, does me good. I was a little worried about the voice of the story, because its a little different then i have written Boyd in the past and i wasn't sure if it was effective.

I'm SO writing you a fic for Christmas.

ooooooooooooh! my own fic!
oh, what can i get you? i don't write fanfic...

i keep telling you, because i keep being amazed at how everything sounds RIGHT. you remember me telling you how i hate fanfic; but your stuff doesn't feel like fanfic, it feels like Canon - often it's "what if" Canon, but CANON.
does that make sense?

Boyd/Claire is -good- :D

Don't worry about it, every review you leave is enough.

Just like this.

Boyd/Clair is my utter favorite, and as close as u get to a one true parring in Dollhouse.

As seen in my stories "Imprint", "Red Velvet Memories" and "Lemon Tart", *coughs*

/shameless self plug...

heee! i have not read those yet, but i'm off to go do so!

but don't you see a Victor/Sierra OTP? did you see the last episode, about how Sierra "didn't even know what he looked like, but i love him!" about Victor?

but i agree about Boyd and Claire - they are WONDEROUS together!

i have to add here -
i like the whole Sierra/Victor being in love. i DO.
but i was SERIOULY PISSED that Sierra was willing to go back to being *erased* to "be with" Victor, another person who is erased. i see what they MEANT to do, but i also see what they DID do. Dollhouse is really easy to watch thru a feminist lens, because the writers KNOW that they are challenging a lot of things, they are deliberately playing with cultural and societal standards and norms [the thing with the rich guy calling Ballard on wanting to "save the girl"? PERFECT]. the only place they really fell down was the TEENY bit - if they had just shown Sierra being willing to going back to being a Doll and THEN seeing Victor and changing from resigned to content, it would have been better, i think.

but that's all just me... maybe i'm wrong. :)

Hmm, good point. i may have to rewatch the ep again, but my inital reading was that Sierra had alreayd kind of made the decison to return to a doll state.

It is a little heavy handed FollowYourHeart message, but really, i think Victor was just one (abit) lage factor in her reasuon to remain a doll. At least that time, it was her choice.

I, personally was fascinated by the issues of consent brought up in that episode: because arguably, where are the lines of consent drawn in the dollhouse?

oh, yesyesyesyesyes! i find dollhouse strangely theraputic, and strangely helpful with my PTSD. and the "CONSENT" issue - that is always there, even if it isn't always at the forground... but yeah, it was the POINT of this one...
he kept using HER camera! *shudder*

i will re-watch it, too - i got the impression that she DID NOT want to "go back" even if she wasn't trying to run away, until she saw Victor. but it may have just been me, freaking out [the whole "making her crazy" the way he did, that hit my BIGGEST fear, biggest trigger... so i know i missed stuff. :( ] i NEED to watch and find what i missed.

and i read - i think i read all your dollhouse fic!

i like the Topher "this isn't Jealousy" - but i like the tangerine one even more!

oooooooooooooh -
the FEEL like they happen! things that didn't get shown, no, but DID HAPPEN IN UNIVERSE!

how do you DO that?

Thank you. Topher/Claire is a fun little sandbox to play in, even if I don't really ship them.

*humble blush* Rewatching. Lots and lots of rewatching. I am a firm believer in a strong character voice.

you are a firm CONVEYER of character voice!

i is jealous, i think :) i can write... but i am bad at characterization... even characters i know like the back of my hand. i just... i just don't know how to do it, i guess. which is a bigger problem for me when i try to write original fic - i have found, the few times i write fanfic, that i do ok there, because [presumably] everyone who reads it already knows the characters...

which gives me an inkling of a thing to try with characterization... offf to poke at it...

i HEART you!

Thank you, if nothing else, I can be proud of my character voice.

I say--keep writing. I've been reading fic in one fandom or another for about 12 years (and GOD how insane is that to admit) and not until this year was anything I wrote even work the space on my harddrive, let alone posting. (Ok, I have some stuff up on fanfic.net, but none of it very good).

Fanfic can be hard in some ways (I know I always considered the HP fandom particularly brutal for newbies unless your stuff was on point) and original work even harder.

I have original stuff that I've been writing for years, short stories, that I donno, that still somehow fall flat.

So I say poke at your little idea, write a little on it, and if you'd like, I'd be happy to read over anything you write.

Because I <3 you too.

thanks!

my idea wasn't original or anything, it just made all the advice i have been given for years a little more understandable. i need to SHOW the characters acting as the characters. i know them so well, i don't write that A is fussing with her medals to make sure the are perfectly straight because she is worried that, even as a Rear Admiral, people aren't going to treat her with respect. i don't SHOW any of that at all. i was missing that aspect. and people having been telling me for years, and it just then sort of clicked what i should try to do.

*fingers crossed*

i'm going to work on the "VAMPIRE! IN! SPACE!" - a short i started because a friend complained that there was scifi, and urbanfantasy, and they never, ever crossed. i am going to re-work it and finish it, and see if it's better, with little *things* that the characters do that make them them.

all YOUR fault :D
thanks!
