Today is a surprisingly light day. I've had my morning coffee. And am in a delightfully wonderful mood, so ... I wanna timestamp, just short commentfics.

Jensen laughs at Danneel holding up a metal bowl, holes dotting the thing in a decorative pattern. “What do I need with that thing?”
“I believe it’s a colander,” she points out. “And you use it to drain water from pasta, vegetables, whatever. Has your husband taught you nothing?”
“He’s taught me a few things,” Jensen replies with a smirk.
“Don’t wanna hear it,” she groans, turning away then halting with a tiny eep noise.
When Jensen looks over, he sees Danneel’s eye-to-eye with his mother, which normally isn’t a bad thing. His family rather adores Danneel and has for nearly two decades now. Except, his mother’s face is tight and her eyes quickly dart between the two of them.
“Hi, Donna,” Danneel says awkwardly before glancing at Jensen.
“Hey, Mom,” Jensen tries warmly but he can tell she’s not easing up on her sharp look.
“Husband?” she asks, surprisingly level.
Jensen sucks in a breath. It’s been just one week since he and Jared said their vows in a courtroom with no one but Danneel and Chad as witness, and he has yet to tell his family. Mostly because since then, he’s spent his waking hours - and sleeping ones, too - consumed with Jared. Until right now, running errands with Danneel while Jared grabs lunch with a few friends.
He knows his mom won’t stand for excuses, so instead of explaining, he simply says, “You wanna meet Jared?”
*
Back at Jared’s place, Jensen lets his mom roam the apartment to get her fill of the setup, décor, and pictures here and there. Though there aren’t that many of Jared and Jensen together seeing as it’d only been two months, and suddenly Jensen feels entirely too foolish over the whole situation.
He’s about to start small talk when Jared comes through the front door and stalls at the sight of Jensen’s mom before Jensen appears from the kitchen.
“Hey,” Jared smiles hesitantly as he drops his keys into the dish on the table by the door and wipes his feet at the doormat.
“Hey,” Jensen replies lamely, only geared into action with his mom’s pointed look. “Jared, my mom. Mom, Jared.”
“Donna,” she says with a big push in her voice as she reaches to shake Jared’s hand. “Nice to finally meet you.”
“Hi, yeah,” Jared chuckles awkwardly before moving in to hug her. “It’s nice to finally meet you, too,” he says warmly. When he catches Jensen’s nervous look, he pulls back quickly, and seems more strangely out of place, even when it’s his place. Their place.
“I ran into my mom at the store today,” Jensen says as he steps up to them. “While I was out with Danneel. Thought I’d bring her back to meet up, maybe grab some lunch.”

“Oh, I just ate,” Jared frowns as he sets his hand to his stomach.
“I’m not hungry anyway, it’s okay,” Donna insists with a smile. “I just really wanted to meet Jensen’s new husband.”
Jared gives Jensen a quick look. “Oh, that.”
She turns toward Jensen and raises an eyebrow, perfectly shaped quite like all the cynical ones Jensen lets loose. It’s scarier this way, from his mother, in this situation. “How about you two get your appetites back in time for dinner? I’d love for you both to come by us to eat.”
“Oh, shit,” Jensen mumbles, and Donna swiftly smacks him upside the head. “Ow!” he cringes. “I’m an adult, I can’t say shit?!”
“You can’t get married and not tell your mother!” she harps back then oddly enough, she takes a deep breath and smiles at Jared. “So, seven sound good?”
Jared gives a tentative smile; he’s scared, really, Jensen can tell. “Seven sounds perfect.”
Jensen rubs at the side of his head as he leads her to the doorway. “That probably could’ve gone differently,” he mumbles to her, partly joking, partly defensive. “Nice first impression.”
Donna grins at him, pinching his cheek all too hard, and then pats the reddened skin. “You probably could’ve told me differently.”
“Okay, fair enough,” he concedes with a small laugh. He gives her a guilty smile after she kisses his cheek. “Seven it is.”
Now, she has a warm smile in place when she waves to Jared. “Nice to meet you, sweetie. See you tonight.”
He hesitantly raises his hand in return and nods. Once the door’s shut, he rubs at his neck and up his cheek, seemingly in sympathy. “Well, that didn’t go well.”
Jensen widens his eyes as he shakes his head then laughs again. “Trust me, that was well.”

This is great! She turns toward Jensen and raises an eyebrow, perfectly shaped quite like all the cynical ones Jensen lets loose. I love that they share the eyebrow thingy, it was such an adorable little touch!
He actually got off pretty lightly for not telling his mom about getting married :D

Haha I love that idea, too. I have grand ideas for how the parents are always digging into them about getting married so quickly, not living together, just all around silliness :)

I agree! That's really not the way a mother wants to find out about her child's new spouse. I actually admire Donna's calm here ♥
