The gateway liquor to deep pretension

Jan 13, 2004 00:30

So, about scotch.

Today I picked up some Glenmorangie 10 yr. and Oban 14. I'm afraid that perhaps neither will eclipse the Lagavulin I just had at far west.

Scotch is going to be the death of me. It's delightful. I will likely become an alcoholic because of it.

I would reinterpret the subject of my post. Really, I think that wine is the gateway to pretension - if you really, really love scotch, you're already fucking there.

Case in point. Met a quite talkative Scotsman tonight. Told me all about exactly how to drink scotch in order to get the most out of it, whatever that means. Now, I enjoy elaborate drinking rituals (it's the only reason I enjoy tequila - the salt and lime) and this is right up my pretentious alley.

He also mentioned the proper scottish response to someone correcting your grammar - "fuck you!" Naturally, he nodded when I asked if said phrase was to be accompanied by a headbutt. Gotta get me to scotland, it sounds like the people are awesome. Plus, he said that scottish folk love american accents. Whooohoo! Lovely ladies here I come!

Time to drink some more scotch.
