Cup number two;
Again at Sea Breeze. I had made my plan to try two different drinks, the espresso to gauge the base quality and then a mocha since that is what do best in my own realm.
I had taken a tall table by one of the many windows and set up my camp. Computer, cell phone for camera, ipod touch for timing. I was really geeked out. The interior of SB is bright blue walls and white trim. I'm sure during the handful of bright warm sunny days we will see, the decor will feel cheery and bright. Today with the overcast and threat of rain looming, it just felt cold. And that's just how blue on the walls affects me. When I first rented my apartment the living room walls were a pale blue and it just felt depressing so I repainted a warm taupe with one brick red wall. Much better.
anyway...
There was a twinge of disappointment when I saw my cup was as low as it was. Usually room is left if you want whippy, otherwise the cup is full. I was pleased to see she had etched the surface with some swirls. The first taste revealed some pleasant foam and a good temperature. Now I'm the kind of fellow who will snack on a demitasse filled with whip cream and a shot of chocolate or caramel sauce but this mocha bordered on being too sweet. They are using Monin syrups but I didn't see the container of chocolate.
So here are the first two coffees out of one hundred. I'll try to do better as we go along...
