So, I clearly haven't been as aggressive in keeping up this blog as I expected, but there hasn't really been THAT much going on to report. However, that has now changed so join me, won't you, as I post a daily blog (assuming I have internet access) of my travels with
Freezepop as I tour manage them through the frozen Midwest!
Yesterday I flew from LAX to Boston where the lovely Liz Enthusiasm (Freezepop vocalist and object d'adoration of male (and female) gamers and geeks around the world)
met me at the airport where we picked up the tour vehicle, a Toyota Sienna, scraped the ice off of it, and headed for Allston, MA. As the only "real" driver I suspect I will be doing most of, if not all, of the driving on this adventure... which suits me just fine.
We met up with The Other Sean T Drinkwater (keyboardist, vocalist, and snappy dresser of Freezepop)
and their pal Abby
for some food and laughs at The Sunset
a "bar n grill" that claims to have the best beer selection in Boston, which, I'm not going to lie, was impressive... but they didn't offer Boddingtons or Negra Modello, so I'm wondering just how robust the beer selections really are in "all of Boston". I must say, though, their swordfish tacos were pretty damn good.
Liz and Abby headed for home (as Abby wasn't feeling so great) and Sean and I set out for some clubbing... only to find that his favorite club was full and we didn't feel like standing out in the freezing weather to get in, so we decided to head for a bar instead. The first bar, Deep Ellum, was too crowded and too loud so we headed out to The Model Cafe
and had a drink, chatted up the friendly waitress, said hello to some friends of Sean's (one of whom, when told I was Freezepop's manager, decided I needed a pop-out top hat, and ascot and a pencil-thin mustache) and headed back to Casa Liz & Sean for the pre-tour slumber.
Before crashing I spent some quality time with their pooch Simon, the most fantastic dog on the East coast
and crashed for the night.
This morning I quickly learned that Liz & Sean don't have a coffee machine so I'm off to Dunkin' Donuts for some java as we get ready to head out to Passaic, NJ for the first gig of the tour at
The Loop Lounge!
