I still haven't seen this movie but reading your commentary is really interesting and I suspect it will make the movie that much more interesting if I ever do get around to seeing it.
OK WOW I am just VERY STUCK ON THE WHOLE NEWT THING. Like, when I watched my thoughts were mostly just "wow that's kind of a dick thing" in that first scene and then didn't think much of it BC THERE IS SO MUCH ELSE, but HOLY HELL THAT IS REALLY GROSS. Like its one thing as a scientist to be intrigued by these huge alien life forms, but he is like glorifying and worshipping them prancing around places with these reminders of DEATH AND DESTRUCTION for EVERYONE, and especially where he works, just plastered all over his body???!!! Like I would assume he'd have to be completely ignorant of other people's feelings t be able to do that!!
