Soooo. I'm done with high school. And this post is for Casie, so consider it as an inside, because I really don't want to explain everything. (Besides, almost nobody ever cares) This was my art project that I've been working on for what, five months. And we had an exposition, and there was a jury prize and a public prize, which we only got to know ( Read more... )

I didn't make that book. XD It was a real book, that I kindly arranged more to my liking. The plaque has my name and the title of the... piece? written on it, which would be Christelle Briand, abstraction intégrale. :) I thought it sounded really cool, because it's very similar to traction intégrale, something on a car. Anyways.

Sooo. First, we had to take measures of our bodies. Arms, from wrist to elbow, elbow to shoulder, shoulder to shoulder, shoulders to hips, hips to knee, knee to ankle, that kind of stuff. Then we cut wood in those proportions, nailed the pieces together in the position our statue was going to be. That was more or less appealing. XDD

Then we gave it form with... broche à poule. Chicken wire? Which hurt everybody fingers. XD

After we worked on the silhouette of it, we had to put... des bandelettes de plâtre on it. Plaster. Yeah. We had to work with plaster. XDD Plaster in rolls and then plaster in powder that we needed to mix with water before... Sandpapering it? XD And than plaster for finition. Long, long process before the painting and all the last details.

We started in mid-september, ended in the first week of February. It was that long. XD But it was fun, we got reaaaally dirty every day, our uniform pants were white with the powder plaster made when we... sandpapered it. We could work together, not do anything if we felt really like not doing anything, we had... I don't know. I went there on lunches because I missed a month of school, and... Yeah. Art classes were really awesome this year.

Were you ever interested, I think I have more pictures... and then some. XD
