-I was mugged at 7-11 for 2 beers by 5 guys on bikes, one of whom said "Welcome to the East Side!"
-I went to Davis with CAN for the Whole Earth Festival. The first day was kinda slow, but that night I went to Apollo Night at UCD where pretty much every black person attending Davis was. It was entertaining and at times impressive. The next day, we all got drunx at the festival and hung out. Jacqualine brough Cap'n Morgan and told me that some woman who I didn't see was "fucking nasty" and made "a ugly face." It was cute with the Spanish accent and all.
1. Turn on your favourite media player and turn your shuffle feature on.
2. Hit "play" and keep track of the next 10 songs that come up. (If you have iTunes, you can make a smart playlist that will automatically list your most recently played selections.)
3. Post your 10 shuffled songs, along with these instructions. You are not allowed to lie, omit tracks or otherwise try to make your musical taste seem hipper than it actually is.
4. Tag five people on your friends list to do the same.
6. Add a little comment about the song; where you got it, why you have it on your list, who suggested it, so forth and so on.
7. Don't worry about #5; it's chill.
1. Sly and the Family Stone - Hot Fun in the Summertime - Um, it's kinda warm and almost summer here.
2. Television - Prove It - every Television song I've ever heard is great, especially the one I heard first: Marqee Moon
3. Wu-Tang Clan - Shame on a Nigga - Wu-tang was the second-most discussed subject in my 8th grade crafts class behind girls' sweet booties and ahead of Austin Howe's dream about fucking a girl on a bench and falling off of it.
4. Dan the Automater featuring Kool Keith - King of New York - I read about Dan in the newspaper and I know he's worked with Del. Kool Keith was at the Warped Tour one year. He wasn't that good.
5. Joy Division - New Dawn Fades - Not one of their most memorable songs.
6. One Man Army - Last Word Spoken - I have no idea what this song is and can't remember anything about it 13 minutes after I listened to it
7. The Raincoats - Don't Be Mean - A damn fine song. This band is a name-dropper if you're trying to impress a teenage feminist, according to "10 Things I Hate About You"
8. Modest Mouse - Other People's Lives - Man, I love this song, and almost every other Modest Mouse song. I think they express urban disenchantedness better than almost anyone, and they sound great.
9. Sly and the Family Stone - I Want to Take You Higher - Another Sly song "randomly" picked from my 9,000 songs. Well, at least they're a great band.
10. Sunny Day Real Estate - In Circles - Yay, post-emo indie rock. When I was into the more hardcore emo, I found this labeled as a good example of the above gerne, as compared to Dashboard or Fallout Boy. The vocals are a little whiney for me, but the music's pretty damn good.
