Made our first visit to Massachusetts as non-residents over the weekend for the
Head of the Charles, my fourth(?) experience of the annual event. The rowing, though, is becoming more of a sideshow to the tents and music stage. The weather was idyllic, much like today's.
Friday night, dinner at the Golden Temple, a Chinese restaurant in Brookline, with Liz's former OTA crowd. The decor is horrible (in the E Room, at least), the food too little for the price, and the waiters pester you about getting another drink in order to increase their tip. Don't go. Note the lack of a URL.
Saturday morning was breakfast at the
Town Diner; the afternoon was the regatta, followed by grub at
John Harvard's in the Square, a venue I hadn't been to before, or felt inspired to try, but it was a pleasant surprise. The prospected waiting time for our table-for-nine was close to an hour, but it turned into only five minutes.
The evening was split between Boston Common, for the world-record-breaking
Jack-o'-lantern experience, and
the Rattlesnake for the obligatory overpriced drinks.
Sunday was breakfast (which I've come to enjoy making daily at home) at
Johnny's in Newton Centre, before we hit the road for our return north.
