[Dean is approaching this whole thing with a lot of mixed feelings. He knows he could see Sam. He also knows seeing Sam would mean losing him again and as much as he wants to see Sam, he doesn't know if he can handle losing him again. He's a bit grumpy but he's sitting on the hood of the Impala just off the square with a half a tin of Mary's

Want a beer?

[She doesn't move, though. She wants to give him the option of asking her to leave so he doesn't have to see her leave yet again. Because she's under no illusion that the City will simply send her back to the blackness she came from.]

Yeah. Come on and have a seat. [And then mock stern.] Not sharing my pie though.

That's okay, I prefer chocolate cake myself. [She won't touch your pie, Dean.] And those fried Snickers bar things I figured out how to make after that one curse. Those were nice. I remember them being delicious.

Yeah. Those were friggin' awesome. Mom needs to learn to make those.

[Dean scoots over and puts his arm around Anna. There's a part of him that knows it's hard for her to reconcile this with what Anna thinks she has to do at home. Part of it is that he wants to remind her that him being alive is a good thing. The other part is just that it's comforting to have his arm around her like this.]
Yeah. Figure a few months here might help with the years we didn't get back home.

[She leans her head on his shoulder, glad for the comfort of his arm. It feels good, maybe too good, but she's not going to push him away. Never again.]
I'm sorry. That your family had to be the one to pay the price for our war.

[He sighs and nods. There's not a lot to say back to that.] Yeah. Me too. [Because it's not like she had a choice in the matter but then neither did he.]

[She leans up to give him a kiss on the cheek. A bold move, but one she thinks he needs. One she knows she needs in the absence of being able to offer him anything else.]
I wish there was more I could do.
