1. It is fun to go to friends' LJs and read their friends' LJs and so on. It's especially interesting when you find connections you never knew! I like the British way of spelling much better. Like "connexions." I don't know if I should start using their spelling or not. Any thoughts?
2. You must see
this. I found it all by myself, when I was reading up on the latest African news. (No, really, I was.) It's pictures of these creative coffins that one man builds in Ghana. I'm really impressed! Would you consider a coffin like those? If so, what would you want? Give me feedback, folks. I'm not sure what I'd want... the Bible seems good. A penguin would be cheerful. A tampon would be inappropriate.
3. I enjoyed lab tonight for Moons and Planets. We even went on the roof of Julian and looked at stars, and despite the haziness, we could still see the major ones, plus Saturn. During lab, I learned my right thumb is approximately half a centimeter wider than the left one. I've known that the right one is wider for a long time- it is quite visible- but I'd never measured the difference. Elena Fine also has mismatched thumbs! We had someone take a picture of our thumbs together last year.
4. Kendal was in some class- sociology?- and the professor said, "Rats jump a lot. Like squirrels." Kendal wrote in his notes, "Rats are like squirrels." That was the extent and entirety of his notes that day.
5. My mom dropped off a few items today, and among them was a can of generic "potted meat product" courtesy of Kelly. That kid kills me.
6. My mom and I had a nice visit. We ate at the Gate, and we stopped at an antique store really quick. Among the other items she gave me was a box of cookies with the armed forces logos on them. I'm pretty sure Kelly was responsible for that too. They're quite tasty. The National Military Family Association gets 5% of the profits, which is nice, but frankly you'd think they could do better than that. How about 20%? I guess I can't judge how much they give.
7. Sorority rush starts on Thursday, which should be interesting. I'm looking forward to it, but I don't know what the outcome will be.
8. Kelly (my favorite topic, apparently) found a newspaper behind our shelves from 41 years ago. I'd actually seen it there, but never did much with it- I'd figured it was cushioning something or holding it in place, and I didn't want to bring the cabinets down off the wall. But she found it and pulled it out. When it was put there, the house would have been pretty new- I think two years or less. My dad said it wasn't terribly interesting, except for a story about how a theatre downtown had free movies, because school was let out for Veteran's Day. A big brawl broke out between some kids and the cops had to come settle things.
10. The radio station called me about half an hour ago, saying that I had a show RIGHT NOW. I explained that I'd emailed the director several days ago, letting her know I wouldn't do a show this semester. Come to think of it, they asked me to do a different time than right now anyway, so they must be really unorganized over there. They had no one doing the show, I guess. I feel bad for whoever got forced to DJ. It's funny that they called me, though.
Well, I have some reading to do, so I'm gonna go get on that. Hopefully I won't fall asleep. I did that today in Julian... for like an hour... when I was supposed to be reading... but those chairs are sehr bequem! I wanted to say something about dolphins in this post, but I couldn't really relate them to anything.
XOXOXOXO, Kati
P.S. Know why there wasn't a number 9? Because seven ate nine! HAHAHA! GET IT?
