Trapped indoors by the rain...

I was supposed to go out today and do my banking, stop at a couple of stores and do some shopping, maybe take myself out to lunch while I was out.  However, monsoon season seems to be occurring in my part of Ohio. We had tornadoes not far from me last night, and there are storm and flood warnings all over my T.V.  Normally, I would just grab my umbrella, walk down the street and hop on the bus, but the wheelchair and not yet being on a prosthetic has changed the "normally" part of my life.   Wheelchairs do not navigate well on wet pavement, and when mud gets on the wheels, it also gets all over my lower arms and hands from pushing the chair.  (I usually wear gardening gloves or gloves with rubberized palms if I am doing a lot of rolling, to protect my hands).  So, if I am wearing a jacket, sweater or long sleeves, I can count on having muddy sleeves.  If I am wearing short sleeves, I can count on having mud all over my lower arms.  I keep wet-naps in my back pouch for when this happens, but with all the rain outside today, it is just going to be too much of a headache to even try, so I am forced to stay in.  I will admit, I resent this aspect of being disabled.  There is also the aspect of retailers not keeping wet spots marked or cleaned up in their stores when it's this wet outside. Wheelchairs do not work well on wet floors, and trying to stand up to select something from a shelf if the floor has even the smallest wet spot can cause me a slip and fall that I just do not feel like having today.  So, Grrrr.......

But, there is Sparky the Wonder Computer , Mark 10,000, to help take my mind of my crankiness.   With such a monster of a hard drive (over 700 Gigs), I am having to learn to partition.  Fortunately, I learn quickly, and as soon as I finish defragging this baby, I will be partitioning my hard drive so that I can control all the data storage.  I am still a little scared of this enormous computer, truth be known.  It is big and powerful and intimidating, and I am just a humble, unassuming kind of ducky.  I have programs and toys on this baby that I haven't even begun to play with!  I just figured out that I already have a movie maker, so I won't have to go out and get one. And, I even have something called "muvee," which I think may be yet another kind of movie maker, but I haven't played with it yet.  So, I am trying to figure out the best way to partition for now. Should I use one partition to store all my photos and music? I will eventually be trying to LAN cable my old hard drive to this one, so I can slave it out and pull about 8 gigs of music that I have stored there and move them to this computer.

And, I been playing with my web camera setup, too!  It does web cam, still photos, and I can record video (duckyTV!) right on my computer! I also got a printer/copier/scanner, and I have played with it a little bit, too.  Plus, I got the most awesome sounding stereo speakers!  Now, when I watch videos on Youtube, I can hear them real well, too!  I got a big old subwoofer under my desk, so I can actually make the sound go so loud that the neighbors will call the police, but I'm not going to, because I am a considerate kind of ducky. In fact, here are pictures of me playing on my new puter!

Nice, huh?
