Apathy
It’s down right wasteful, and I hate it.
Watching people that I care about (and hell, even those that I don’t care about, but pity) waste themselves and their lives is starting to hurt.
There are people that I know quite well who have obscene amounts of potential who aren’t utilizing it at all. They aren’t employed or in school, and are just sort of…coasting. Others are employed in thankless dead end jobs that are slowly destroying them, but they’ve given up trying to pull themselves out.
Apathy.
They sing about it in punk songs like its some sort of status symbol. Like this is something we should aspire to- to not care. Like once a given level of aloofness is obtained, then suddenly everything will snap into place, and we’ll all be anti-establishment anti-conformist “rebels” together. And the world will make sense then, right?
Gegh.
And to complain about it- does that make me the establishment that pop culture wants everyone to rally against? Who the hell is everyone fighting anyway? Are we creating an enemy out of a lack thereof? Is that why this all seems so vapid?
