Finally....

An excuse to plant my ass on the couch and watch tv. Not that I need an excuse to plant my ass on the couch but it's much more enjoyable when there's something to watch. Last night--House. Tomorrow--Supernatural. Dexter and Pushing Daisies...well, they're coming.

dying sort of changes thing...especially if you're the one who's dead )

I could've easily ignored 13 if she hadn't been plastered all over the screen.

I think we might as well get used to 13 being up front and the center of the writer's attention. Now that Sam Carter's no longer on the air, someone's got to take up that sort of slack. *g*

Cam V 2.0 just isn't interesting. Being bisexual in and of itself isn't interesting. It might be interesting if *Taub* were the bisexual one, but not her.

Being a bisexual female is interesting to young men, who are of course the target audience of just about every show, so of course it's going to be interesting. They'll force feed us the character until we agree too.

I'm kinda liking Taub though. He strikes me as a bit like Foreman in a sense. He's got the balls to stand up to House like Foreman often did, though without quite as much of a personality conflict at work. He's actually called quite a few characters on their Drama Llama moments, with a dose of House!lite sarcasm.

Yet when it's all said and done, he seems the type who wants to go to work, do his job, and go home. I can relate to that. I can't relate to 13's OMG!Feminism! combined with OMG!I'mgonnadie.

I also couldn't understand why Taub and/or Foreman didn't try to take charge. Foreman has in the past.

Poor Kutner. I like the actor, but as a character, he's just sorta there most of the time.

I hadn't thought about it that way but you're probably right. Of course it feeds into House's long running fascination with lesbians, too, but yeah. Because of course all those women tuning in to watch Hugh (or RSL or Jesse or Omar), well, we're not the audience they want.

I have liked Taub at times. There just haven't been enough opportunities to get to know him. Or Kutner, for that matter, 'cause it's all about 13. I'd like to spend more time with the guys because I do like both of them. But apparently they aren't interesting or mysterious...or bisexual ;-)

My biggest problem with all three is that they are just copies of the originals. I don't mind that TPTB wanted a new team... but we didn't get a new team. Taub is a white Foreman, Kutner is an Indian Chase, and 13 is...Cameron.

I think that's why I enjoyed Scooter and CTB and even Big Love--they actually were different. They brought something new to the table. I'm still waiting for this team to give me something new.

the majority of House fans actually happen to be straight women and gay men, and we are unlikely to find her interesting. real feminists don't have anorexia, BTW. they also don't try to debate to their boss that some woman they don't even know should have a baby that she doesn't want.

Doesn't matter who's actually in the audience, all that matters is what the advertisers and studio executives want the audience to be. Advertisers generally want younger audiences, preferably male, and the studio executives try to have the show fit those specifications as much as possible.

And yes, I know that wasn't real feminism, not at all, which is why I referred to it as "OMG!Feminism!" That sort of crap is what people who don't understand feminism think hardcore feminists are like.

What's so difficult for them to understand about basic feminism? Is it really an outlandish concept to treat women as human?
