Thank god for DVDs 'cause I finally got to see the last two eps of the Dresden Files. And now I'm sad all over again that it didn't get picked up. If it had had a giant snake or mutant bugs SciFi would've been all over it, but noooooooooo. Bastards.
Anyway, I had to start watching the extras ('cause I'm a total fangeek that way) and Paul Blackthorne with his real accent.... oh my. I was the same way with Hugh Laurie. Yes, I'm one of those cultural philistines who had no idea who HL was and by the time I heard him speak in his natural voice I was so used to the American accent my brain nearly broke. But again, oh my.
The weird thing is the accent does break my brain when they're 'in character' That is, when HL is being HL (say on Leno) then I'm all over the accent. But when he's House it messes with my reality. Had the same problem with Blackthorne. Love the accent, but he was wearing Harry's clothes and scruff and it did not compute.
That reporter was right, tho--what is it with all the Brit actors coming over and pretending to be American and stealing bread from the mouths of the Canadian actors who pretend to be American? ;-)
