SPOILERS under the cut.
You know, with every episode, the desire to go to Firehouse 51 and be best friends with EVERYBODY just increases exponentially. At the end of every single episode, I’m filled with ~love and the insane desire to hug everybody in sight. This is a nice change-up from Supernatural, I’ll admit.
That said, CASEY V SEVERIDE. How awesome was that?
The curious thing was, Casey never actually did explain what happened between him and Heather to Severide. He was never given the chance, granted, but still. He had the chance in Boden’s office-but he had no obligation to explain himself; Severide was being a passive-aggressive shit at that point, and had already humiliated Casey in front of his own crew. It basically wasn’t Severide’s or the rest of the Firehouse’s business.
And now that Severide’s trying to fast-track Mills into Squad? It’s going to another point of contention between him and Casey. I know it’s not really Casey’s style, but it would help if he could connect emotionally with his crew. I have a feeling that this might just make him autocratic though, which, yay!
I did love his exasperated, “What is the worst part, Kelly?” as Severide tries to have a go at him again.
I feel ya, Matt.
Casey’s “we’re part of the same neighbourhood; we ought to co-exist” speech to the drug dealers was interesting.
I didn’t know whether to be horrified or horrified at Shay’s “Plan B”. Oh, wait! It was supposed to be amusing?
Also, the promo for this episode was so misleading it’s criminal! That whole bit with Casey catching the dealers who shoot at him was not even in the episode! What the hell, Show?
The ending destroyed me. It was just-perfect. This show really mines for drama, but it pulls off the heavy stuff surprisingly well. I watched the last three minutes through a haze of my tears.
