Perfect. It was perfect. I was so worried about demon!Dean being different beyond recognition, and therefore not actually examining Dean as he is. But instead he's doing what he's always done, co-opting other people's problems as an excuse to go off the deep end and having all that "protectiveness" dissolve into entitled insults when they don't show appropriate ~gratitude (ie, perpetual obsequiousness).
It’s kind of like a kid writing out an ‘If I Were Prime Minister’ essay (“and I’ll make weekends longer, and chocolate the national food, and I can stay up watching TV all night, and oh, put all the teachers who give me dumb homework assignments IN JAIL.”)
I DO WHAT I WANT, CROWLEY!!!!
(4) I like him too!

He spent months thinking that Crowley had stolen his brother’s corpse and filled it with a demon-and if Sam can’t get Dean back, then he can at least protect the sanctity of his human remains
Right. Because that was the thing Dean kept harping on in S8 - I expect you to destroy yourself for me EVEN IF I'M DEAD.
God, it was amazing. I mean, there are so many less-imaginative, well-tread, fandom-approved paths that they could've taken demon!Dean, but that they chose to make him as close to actual!Dean as possible is just BRILL.

Agreeeeeed. Even corners of my various reading lists where people somewhat get that Dean is gross are like "how stupid, he isn't SCARY?!?" Like. Dean was already scary. He didn't need to get any more scary. If all that's changed in him is that he has black eyes, that is terrifying.
