So, today i had my "orientation" appointment. They took weight, vitals, blood, urine, the basics... Then we sat down with a nurse and went over all the things to expect over the next 9 months. Went over breastfeeding, labor, the hospital, the doctors, the doctor's office, and even got a cute little gift bag. It was great to get a "refresher" of

But to answer some questions...
1) Breastfeeding with an older child, if Emilee wants to try the breastmilk, theres no harm in it. She will probably like it, but by that time she'll also be old enough to understand, "You can eat big people food now, and the baby cant eat big people food. You can have a taste but this is baby's food. Emilee can eat what Mommy eats." or something to that effect. It makes her feel grown up, but its very normal for an older child to want to try breast milk as well.
2)Extra testing: I suggest you definetly read up on the amniocentesis and weigh the risks. I prefer to do the blood tests, because they are non-invasive. They dont give you a 100% for sure answer, but if they do come back positive, you'll have time to prepare yourself for it. Both tests they did on me last time came back neg, but they told me there was still a small chance. Its best just to be prepared either way. I will not, personally, do an amnio though... because there are far higher risks of miscarriage.
3)I did not do a hospital tour. In my opinion, all hospitals are the same, and are there for the same reason, to get you through the labor and delivery safely and to get your baby into the world as safely as possible. If you were looking for something like water births or something, I would check with the hospital about that, but if you are just doing a regular birthing room birth with the bed and monitors and all, then there's really not a reason to do a hospital tour.
4)Fun thing to do: Girl we gotta go shopping haha. Chris wanted to go today to look at some stuff at Walmart. We ended up getting home too late from running errands. But if you can get together a list of things you want to get now, we can go on a baby buying lunch date sometime. Whenever is good for you. :)
And about video documenting, I LOVE the idea. I'm pretty sure you can even do an online video diary if you want to. I personally love the idea, and I'd like to try it as well. Maybe set up a youtube page and upload your videos there?
Sidenote: I'm so glad you can read entries and comment at the same time, I would have totally forgotten everything you asked lol. Darn pregnancy brain! haha

1: That is what i figured, she'd want to try it, and i don't mind if she decided to latch on here and there, i just don't want her going backwards, we've gotten so far. But i like the idea of, you can be a big girl. That might come in handy.
2: I'm NOT getting an amnio done, but even the blood test, i just dont know if i see the point in it. It's only going to make me more stressed, and they aren't even really that accurate and have alot of false positives. So i'm thinking against them.
3: I'm thinking about doing it, more for Alan's calmnness, so he knows what's going on, i've "been there, done that" i'm not planning on a water birth, but i do enjoy having a shower/bath to labor in, it helped tons with Em.
4: We do need to go shopping, but money is tight, so if you want we can easily go to buybuybaby and register. And might splurge here and there, grab lunch, have a girls day. (If i can get a babysitter, otherwise, kids may be in tow)
Video wise, i just wish i wolud have had a way to document my feelings with the first one, i remember the birth, but those feelings you can't document as well after the moment has passed. So i think we are gonna try to buy a flip cam.. Not sure though

--If Alan needs to go, GO! Chris had been through the birthing process with his ex wife, and so I didn't have to teach him anything. I got an epidural as soon as I could, right after they broke my water for me. So I was confined to a bed. I wish I had thought about a shower before giving birth...
-- Registry, lunch, play date sounds great. We probably wont have a lot to spend either, because we're saving up as much as we can. I'd love to bring the kids, just because Connor loves getting out of the house.
-- There are these video cameras that have a USB thing in them that plug straight into your computer.
Heres a link.

As far as going, it's all up to him, i'm neutral on this one...
I'm gonna try to have a natural birth again, so bath/shower really was the best thing for me last time. But, i do remember being happy as can be that when i thought i was in labor that i showered, just this time, i will be eating as much as i can before i get there (I know you "shouldn't" but i almost died from being hungry last time!!)
Then if you have the room (damn car people) lol.. then i will happily tote emilee along, i love having her around and she's a weird kid, so always amusing to others.
Everyone is always talking about the flipcams, so we will be trying to get one, might be a christmas present :) :) :)
