So yesterday started with me getting picked up by my mate Matt and we drove across town to the Independence Day party hosted by another friend of ours, Chad, and his wife, Christie. We got there at about 1.30pm where we started out in a local park playing games.
I'm the wheelbarrow towards the right, red t-shirt on. For the record, I pretty much sucked at every game we did...
Chad had an accident:
We then had a cider fight (similar to a water fight, but, well, you get it). Luckily that wasn't captured on camera.
Winners got medals. I came 3rd in something.
Back at the flat there was a bbq and the American theme continued. Here I am with 'Mom's Apple Pie'.
There were Jello Shots:
And a bong. The bong was my undoing. I didn't fancy beer so Chad was mixing up a pretty strong cocktail (Godfather - Jack Daniels, Amaretto and Coke). I did three of these in total, apparently that accounted for two thirds of a large bottle of Jack and the same of the Amaretto. No wonder then that a few hours later I was seeing it all again in reverse...
From left to right, Chad, Janice, Me, Matt, Jane. Jane without a Y because a y in Jane is "superfluous". One of my favourite quotes of the night.
Most of us. Some were left in the lounge watching the Wimbledon final (ladies and doubles).
The view from their terrace as it got later. Of the three tallest towers in the middle, the one on the left is the HSBC world headquarters. Chad works there. He can see his place of work from his flat, how cool is that? I guess I can too, but that's because mine's my bedroom.
That'll do by way of pictures. There's about 200 of them in total, I'll spare you. ;)
As the party started so early, it didn't really go on too late. I was in bed for about 2 I reckon, though I don't really remember. I do, however, remember hugging the base of the toilet for a good half hour following the evil bongness. Oh, and returning to the lounge to find Chad watching a dvd of Degrassi High!?!?
Anyway...
Eventually woke up and they all had Kraft Dinner for breakfast. I couldn't even handle the smell so I hid under the duvet until it was gone. Chad had to pop to the hospital for something so I accompanied him. Band Camp was cancelled and this seemed like a good way to kill a few hours on a Sunday. Four hours later we leave the hospital and head back to his to fire up the bbq again for lunch. Stuck the Wimbledon men's final on and then the three of us (me, Chad, Christie) promptly fell asleep. Woke up towards the end. And we were watching it on delay too because we'd missed the beginning while at the hospital. By the time that had finished and I left to come home it was 9pm. That's 31.5 hours in the company of the Canadians. Those poor bastards. But a great time, as always. Mad love to them both.
Guess I should now be getting to sleep. Hoping to start feeling a little more human come the morning.
Hope you all had great weekends people.
;)
