general update
Yep, that's Nicholas cage & Danny Glover filming a movie here (Takarev, Takaru, something like that). Came across the filming downtown, whipped out my sketchbook & started sketching the crew. They were really nice, I think they also enjoyed someone paying attention to them for a change. A couple of the actors were especially considerate, offering me a seat & getting me some water. Cage was very polite, considerate of onlookers (interestingly, he did not look you in the face), Glover was very friendly & outgoing. Both suffered from the heat & humidity!
Aside from the heat this is a great time to be in Mobile- loads of local produce coming in.There are 3 different farmers markets near me, one Tuesday, one Wednesday & one Saturday. Last month I had local asparagus pretty much daily (way better than shipped in), then the silver queen corn, blueberries & strawberries came in, now peaches are starting, with lots of different squashes, beans & tomatoes pretty much all the time. Plus lots of local baked goods.
Sebastian ate the strap of my favorite nightgown (???). I found a replacement on sale, laid it on the bed & went to get a drink & some dinner. when I walked back to my bed 1 strap was eaten away, the other badly damaged -WTH??? he has never bothered my nightgowns before... suggestions?
Shan's allergies are better so I took her to the pet store. She rides in the kids seat in the shopping cart, & loves to watch the birds & mice. A conure seemed entranced with her- it would follow her around its enclosure, & when Shan looked away it would do flips, hang upside down, anything to get her attention. When Shan finally put her nose against the glass it put its beak against the glass & they both just stood there. Stupid me did not have a camera! Other customers & the staff got a big kick out of them.
