What a day !!
Yesterday was Friday the 13th and I'd already swopped shifts at work as I was feeling icky with one of the many viruses rampaging at the moment. I planned a restful quiet day-keep warm-no stress-and get myself better.......should hae known better-Friday the 13th and how !!
Just packed Josh off to school and the first text message arrived "Are you working? I need help" A really close friend has finally seen the light and kicked out her waste of space, work-shy, alchol abusing partner. I've spent the last months waiting for her to realise-giving support without alienating her by telling her what i really think (she knew what I thought but it sat between us unspoken). He didn't believe she meant it ! He left-having packed-but left every single one of his possesions behind !! I spent the day with her-just been there-She was scared-knowing he'd be back at some point in the day and possibly come back drunk and abusive. No way was I leaving her alone in the house with her ten year old. We had a busy day-locksmith came-we packed up the restof his stuff-drank gallons of coffee and tried to make everything seem normal for her daughter and my son once he came back from school. It was awful.
He showed up around 7 and tried to walk in like nothing had happened-and imediately told several stories controdicting each other -how he had somewhere to stay/had no-where to stay. He didn't get past the front door and left with a bag of essentials but will be back over the weekend no doubt. I stayed until my friend's 23 year old daughter got home from work and left....got home -called another friend who is dealing with her husband's cancer regression and rings me daily for support.
I then decided I needed some "Me" time-fired up the PC and started a game of civ..........Messenger beeped-*another* friend has just discovered her husband has been advertising for partners on the net for "casual fun"...two hours later I finished talking to her-gave up and staggered off to bed !
Somehow not having anyone special around this Valentines day doesn't seem so bad after all !!
