Apartment warming
We moved in almost a month ago, but it took 2-3 weeks before we decided to go pick up our mailbox keys. Yesterday, I checked our mail for the second time ever, and got two USPS notices. One I was expecting; the other, not so much.
I stared at it for some time, trying to figure out what this package from Costco might be. Did I order something and forget about it? Then I looked closer and realized that it wasn't addressed to just me...but to Josh and Keith as well. WTF? I started to think that perhaps our leasing office was involved somehow - why else would a package be addressed to all three of us?
Anyway, by the time I got the notice, the post office was closed, so I had to wait until this morning to go pick up the mysterious package. At the post office, when they handed me this package in person, it simply added to my confusion.
A styrofoam box.......?!?! And not only that, but:
Indeed, it was addressed to "Helen, Josh & Keith" and...it was from the Costco Photo Center in Pennsylvania. Erm...yeah I did a lot of head scratching on my way home. Maybe our leasing office had sent us a welcome gift? I suspected that, if that were the case, they had (secretly) taken pictures of us while we were moving in or something. I wouldn't put it past them, but it still seemed a bit much. All right, so I finally got home and started cutting this thing open.
Whoa! A mug. Random. I pulled it out, and the first image I see is this:
So because I wasn't looking closely at the picture, and by this point I had convinced myself that my crazy theory about the leasing office was actually right, I thought this was a picture of Keith moving stuff up our stairs. When I spun it around and saw this pic:
My delusional brain thought Josh had actually posed for a picture while we were moving. HOW HAD I NOT NOTICED THE CAMERA?! Or the fact that they were following us around? Well, finally, I saw the middle of the mug:
The whole thing was a photo from our graduation shoot last year with A-Chin! And then a light bulb went off in my head, and I remembered that A-Chin had TOLD ME a week or two ago that an apartment warming gift was on the way. And now that I knew who it was from, the Costco thing should've been a dead giveaway!
Oy. This proves that I have a terrible memory and I come up with ridiculous theories when I'm confused. Ahaha anyway.
Oh, Andrew, you're awesome. =) We can't wait 'til you move to L.A. *nudge* =P so that you can live with us too! THANK YOU for such a cool gift - we will use it well and think of you everyday!
