You are getting sleepy . . .

The colleague who used to sit next to me talking to herself was promoted and got an actual office with a door and everything. Her former desk is now occupied by a person who doesn't talk to herself but does find it appropriate in a professional environment to yell to people in other cubicles rather than using either the telephone or her feet. It is possible that I will strangle her. It will be justifiable homicide. You'll all come testify as character witnesses, won't you?

Last evening was a very lightly attended shire meeting at my house. The kittens were entertaining. I have come to the conclusion that, although I am reasonably certain that there were only two of them when they moved in last Friday, there are now 14 or so. I cannot otherwise fathom how they can be everywhere at once. One of them keeps trying desperately to perch on the edge of my laundry hamper. The hamper falls over every time. The kitten fails to make the connection. This is an example of what the Heir describes as "the kittens trying to figure out which laws of physics apply to them and which don't." This is why I wanted kittens. They will go to the vet tomorrow. I am going to send the Heir in with a tiny pink collar and a tiny blue collar and have him ask the vet to dress them appropriately. It's the only hope I have of trying to keep straight which is Ollie and which is Dinah, at least for the near future.

No doubt many of you will have noticed that gasoline is becoming very expensive. I have noticed that I am old. I deduce this from the fact that every time I have to pay $40 to fill the tank in my little Dodge Neon, I am reminded that I used to fill a comparably-sized tank in a previous car and pay with a $10 bill, for which I would get change. The older I get, the better I understand my late father.

I am exhausted. It may have something to do with the fact that at some time in the middle of the night, the kittens decide it is playtime and that I am a playground/jungle gym. I believe Selina is as annoyed by this behavior as I am, but I can't tell for sure, because I do not speak Cat. God grant that I will not fall asleep driving home, and that I WILL be able to fall asleep at a reasonable hour when I'm actually in bed.

Bee good!
