Loom Weights

Jan 10, 2009 16:52

Back iin August kbhjs and I bought 50 pounds of clay to make weights for a warp weighted loom.   Today we we finally had time to sit down and start on them.

Weights are usually between 600 and 800 grams each so we made them 800 grams since they will weigh less once they are dry.  They look like a tray of doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.

The decorations on the period weights were usually stamped on the clay so we stamped the weights.  I used my seal ring and Kara used a coin.

Here is my seal ring.

Then, because we had some clay left over, we made a couple drop spindle worls.

Wonderfully productive day!
