Saturday at Folk Life

After a long day at Folk Life, I ended up at my friend Felix's place. He was to have a barbecue/booze party but only 2 people showed up besides me. So we moved the party (along with a cooler full of corona's and smirnoff's) to a forest-y area in Edmonds somewhere. There was a little set-up camp with a place for a fire to be built with a bunch of logs around it to sit on.

We sat in the utter darkness, sipping on beer. I paused and held my corona in my hand, and looked to the sky through the trees. It was dark but the sky was clear, so I could see all the stars through the numerous branches of the evergreens surrounding us. I reminisced about all the moments I shared with you. I began to get sad, but then I started thinking that I would never trade them for anything in the world, and that it was the happiest I'd ever been in my entire life. Being yours, you being mine. The world was right, and I have a different outlook on life now that you're not mine. Mostly pessimistic, but hopeful that love like that truly exists.

Then I took another sip of my beer. Then some friends of the people I was with showed up. We smoked some stuff, relaxed, and one of the guys with us started talking about sociology and psychology. We connected on those planes, and it was a surreal experience. I wish I could share moments like these with you, dear, but I know that it's for the best, and moments like these were reserved especially for me, and me alone.
