Even the serious business of electing a new government doesn’t escape the larrikin sense of humour of Australians. Most polling booths have a ‘democracy sausage’ sizzle set up by local community groups or schools as a fundraiser, providing BBQ sausages on a roll or slice of bread, but some, such as this inner city Sydney school, have taken the food stalls to a whole new level. (Lots of in-jokes at the expense of MPs’ names and proclivities feature prominently here.)
