I replaced my kitchen mixer tap today. I was fairly bricking it as I hadn't done it before and didn't know what was waiting for me when I loosened the nuts on the water pipes (a daffodil popped out) but I didn't want to get a plumber awkward as seemed like a fairly straightforward job and I'd just be paying someone to be uncomfortable. It turned out to be a right pain to do as the fittings are up behind sink, one side in particular is very awkward as you don't have enough room and you have to loosen and tighten the nuts by feel, which isn't so bad for the bottom nut, which holds the water pipe to the pipe coming from the taps, but the top one, which holds the taps in place under the sink, is a pain to tighten. It turns out all I needed to do really was to replace the washers on the tap spout, which was where the water was leaking from, but I gave myself a new with that modern quarter turn business. It's nice to refresh these things occasionally. If it goes again I'll just replace the washers.

I'm adapting more quickly to the cold water in the shower these days. The other day the water temperature couldn't have been more than 8c but I was able to spray the back of my neck and back straightaway, instead of the nervous pirouette I used to do. I'm hoping it's the effect of the kefir. I like the taste of kefir and look forward to drinking it, which must mean something, healthy food tastes good.
