If that's true, then this livejournal is worth more than that ring on Ludacris' pinkie finger.
It's November 2, and the last time I wrote in here was September 2, a whole 2 months ago. Some things have changed, some haven't. Everything's going well. The UCF experience has been a blast so far and shows no signs of slowing down. Classes are relatively easy this semester, and I already have my schedule for next semester. As of now, I won't have classes on Fridays, which will freakin' rock. Outside of school, the living quarters has been an experience. Roomies are off the heazy and we've had some awesome times. Oh, did I mention there are hot girls everywhere? =0)
Well I'm sure I owe you all more info, I mean, it's been pretty long since I set....um....foot? in here...
But, hey! Today is Election Day! I went out and voted early. It worked out nice, you know, not having class on Tuesdays and Election Day being on Tuesday. I was a little psyched, but I really felt it as I stepped into the booth and approached the little oval next to Kerry. Whoever you support, if you are registered to vote, go do it, especially if you're in the 18-24 age range. It's time to show this country just what 20+ Million Loud is all about!
And you know, the whole P. Diddy "Vote or Die!" thing got me thinking. I'm sure P. Diddy has enough power to get access to voter registration databases and tap into who's voting and who's not. So if you value your life, go out and vote, or he's gonna come after you and beat your ass. And when he's done, he'll kick your ass some more.
"Uh uh...I thought I told you that we won't stop, I thought I told you that we won't stop...uh, uh!"
On a final note, I went to see the much-anticipated Ray last night.
Now, I love Ray Charles. His music is virtually unparalleled. Growing up, I remember watching the Sandlot and hearing "America the Beautiful" while they play ball on July 4. The voice that was singing that music was something I had never heard before...something great. When I saw the previews to this movie a few months back, I put it high on my "must-see" list. And after seeing it, I can honestly say that I'm sure glad I did.
I know you've been hearing a lot of Oscar buzz about Jamie Foxx's performance. Well let me tell you, and this is coming from an actor, if Jamie Foxx doesn't win the Oscar for Best Actor, I wouldn't want to win one. Foxx goes far beyond characterizing and "impersonating" Ray. He becomes Ray. From the voice, to the piano-playing, the lip-synching, the movements...it's all there. At first, I was like, hey, it's Jamie Foxx. 10 minutes into the movie, I was watching Ray Charles. It's incredible that the same man who was "Wanda" could pull off something like this. MAJOR props.
The movie as a whole had a wonderful ensemble. I could only find minor complaints. All of Ray's music is there, and as it's presented, it goes right along with what is going on in his life at the time. What I really liked was how it wasn't an attempt to present Ray as this god-like musical genius. It presents him as a talented, but vulnerable MAN. Both the good AND bad is here. If you love Ray like I do, I strongly recommend seeing this movie. Even if you only know him as the guy from the Pepsi commercials, go out and see this movie. You won't regret it.
Well, I'm off to work on my Film application. I'll try my best to update from time to time.
See you when we have a new president! =0)
