A present from my country!

Last lake trip of the year over.

... I don't know, I do enjoy dashing about in boats and whatnot, but I also enjoy being clean. Bathing with lake water just doesn't cut it.

... Listening to ABC makes me want to watch the Spell Magic video. Put that on my to-do list, because geek-to-sexy transitions are strangely attractive.

In other news.

I may or may not have finally realized how fucking STUPID I am for taking four classes ON TOP of thesis with Miyake. HA HA.

I signed my own death sentence in an internet cafe in Shijo. The only highlight is that I put the fairly attractive attendant guy into something of a tizzy when he couldn't find my cubicle.

Oh, we tall booby foreigners all throw 'em off when we start speaking Japanese.

L'anyhoodles.

I can't drop the Yamashita seminar, because... well, it's Yamashita. The man likes me as it is, and if I take the class HE SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE and do well, he will write me recommendations that will make the world my plaything.

However, if I DON'T take the class HE SPECIFICALLY TOLD ME TO TAKE... things will not go so well. :/

If only that weren't the most terrifying of my future courses. >_> But I don't WANNA read 500 page books on World War II every week! AND write papers! I'm a Tokugawa (wo)man!

Then there's Phonology, which I really want to take, and as long as my Linguistics minor is still something like possible, I don't want to go backing out of that. Not to mention Paster's teaching it, and if she actually remembers me, she'll hopefully remember also that I kicked ass in her Intro class. >_>

(Kinda wish Sood would teach something besides hard-core theoretical compsci so I could have her again.)

Then my crap science course, which I of course need to graduate. Fucking Pomona. Liberal arts my ass, you just like making us language majors take courses we normally wouldn't go near with a forty-foot pole. Admittedly, "Human Genetics for Non-Majors" sounds promising, but... well, what do you expect from a Prof that knows he's teaching all the kids who don't really want to be there?

And finally, the anthro course I just happened to find in my course-catalog perusing, which looked so damn interesting I couldn't pass it up. ... Admittedly, the fact that I can't even remember the title doesn't speak volumes for it, but it was definitely something to do with Language and Culture. I thought of Japanese and sexism as perfect examples, so there you go.

I'm probably going to wind up either dropping or auditing that one out of sheer necessity.

Because, of course, I'm also taking the JLPT in December.

I AM A FOOOL.

All I'm saying is that if JET turns me down after all this crap, I may cry.

...

And I'm still waiting for Super Puzzle Fighter. CURSE YOU SLOW INTERNET.

EDIT- Aaaand it's official: My uncle and his second wife of little more than a year are getting divorced.

And all mom and I can say is ".... SAW THAT COMING XD"

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Getting married too quickly leads to bad things.

Like learning that your wife is a crazy attention-whore. Among other things.

Oh well. After cutting my grandfather out of our lives recently, there had to be some new drama on that side of the family.

The drama on my dad's side is that my second-cousin (possibly, I'm bad with relations) had a shot-gun wedding in the true meaning of the term. As in the oops-I'm-preggers meaning. Also, that side of the family's catholic. Also, she's my age.

Also, her husband is about to be shipped off to Iraq.

WIN all around.

And that concludes the familial update. Carry on.
