[Filtered to the Children]

Naomi Misora is still too quick to assume police tactics from our home will be useful here. I sometimes wonder if she recalls I chose her during Bloody August because she was on leave from the FBI at the time and had mobility. Police can be a terrible burden.

It would be best if you made it clear as bluntly as possible that working out in the open will endanger our cause.

Making those announcements about the case was just idiotic.

......

Are you well?

She acted against my direct orders.

I am better, yes. I do apologize that I had to jar the opposition in such a dramatic manner.

Moron.

Do not apologize...it was effective.

Apologies are reserved for when one makes a mistake.

What are your thoughts on going public with the information that somebody sent Ophelia out to kill me?

The only way there can be an advantage for the public knowing this information is if Ophelia herself admits to the crime, and identifies Light as the mastermind behind the plan to murder you.

This Lillith...if she can affirm Ophelia's claim, then it would make Ophelia more credible...

How willing Ophelia is to damn herself, we can not know.

However, if there is incentive...she may be willing to do such a thing.

Light's credibility will take a large amount of damage and will most likely drive people away from him. The Warden title will be removed without a doubt.

It would do us no good if any of us were to announce the information ourselves.

Does Ophelia bear any ill-will towards Light?

We are unlikely to draw a public confession to it being Light from either Ophelia or Lady Lilith.

But if Light found out about the confession he would be obligated to find the man responsible which, of course, is himself. I know he spent many years pretending to pursue Kira but Kira had an entire planet in which to hide. Confined to a city he would have been easier to capture and Light would look foolish for not making headway.

He could of course pay somebody else to take the blame but Lilith and Ophelia would know he's lying.

There are holes in this plan but it is worth considering. If we wish to strike we must do so while the proverbial iron is still hot. But we must not make ourselves vulnerable either.

There is one glaring hole: Apathy ( ... )

Nagging doubt is better than no doubt at all. The real question is, would such an action hurt us? We made a mistake with Matt. We cannot afford another one, not when we are this close.

L the Arbiter is not here. We must work together to create him, I am not sure you saw my earlier post on the matter.

I did.

Unfortunately, we have no time to create L the Arbiter while, as you said earlier "the iron is hot". We must either attempt to sow the seeds of doubt or create credibility and wait for our next chance.

The latter will require waiting, which we can't afford any more of. The former, a gambit, will not be as damaging as the issue with Matt. Because no one could forge a connection between Matt and Light, but only with Matt and Dietrich, we should not be seen as "taking revenge" on Light. The citizens could only see the situation as a "fabrication" of yours if they could make the connection between Matt and Light.

By the sheer magnitude of this accusation and the fact that you and Light appeared friendly, at least 31% of the population would have doubt about Light's integrity.

We cannot afford to simply say "Light did it". People would think my fevered mind fabricated the accusation out of spite or that I am attempting to pull a prank.

We need to plant a seed of doubt and hope the Citizens identify Light on their own. The question is how? We cannot manipulate the media as we used to.

If Misora did not insist on doing things her own way, she could be utilized.

If you did not place a name to the one behind the plot to kill you, it would force Light to "root out" this murderer.

Do you believe Light will make a mistake as the Warden, trying to capture this "murderer"? If so, then you should make an announcement. If not, then there is no purpose to the attention you would draw to yourself.

Why do you believe Ophelia obeyed Light?

Ophelia obeyed Light because she wanted to root out Naomi. It is no secret Naomi has been launching investigations against her.

You are right about the eyes that would be turned upon is. We need somebody else to release this information. An impartial party....

....Smoker, perhaps?

If he is indeed impartial...why would he announce such a thing to your benefit?

Misora must be controlled. Her potential at the moment is being outweighed by her liability to our cause.

What did Ophelia gain in obeying Light, then?

Ophelia gained nothing. It did not work.

And please watch the battlefield more closely, Near. Smoker would announce such a thing because he is a police officer. He pursues justice as we do but is uninvolved in our case against Yagami Light.

I see.

However, how much would he say?

We should not make an announcement that might cause Ophelia to think we are searching for her alone. She could be valuable in the future.
