*In which we discover the reasoning behind my question about RL threads. L is trying to forget his depression and he is attempting to alleviate his dreary boredom at the beach, people watching. Eventually, people watching becomes dull to geniuses, however, so he's having himself some fun...at your expense.
Those of you at the beach today may find scattered corked bottles with messages in them. Once you uncork a bottle and read the message you'll find one (1) detective standing immediately behind you and invading your personal bubble. The messages are typed and all say "I'm standing right behind you."
Ladies, grab your pepper spray.
