Pikeman's Pleasure

Pikeman's Pleasure was June 4. The theme was "The Last Days of Camelot" which made one of my favourite events even better.

I was sick in the morning and we left ridiculously late. We usually get there for noon, but this time we got there between 1 and 2. Fortunately, they hadn't given our feast reservation away. Our lateness kind of worked in our favour since it had rained in the morning. We also missed the Baroness almost severing her hand with a chisel (or at least requiring a stitch. The legend may have grown in the telling.)

We got to do a Royal Round. Piers also did some novelty shoots. He ended up placing third in the competition and won a bow case.

We had brought Grainne's archery equipment, but she didn't take a single shot. There was kite flying on the hill and Grainne spent most of the day doing that. There was a scary moment in which Grainne attempted to get Serafina's kite from the tree it had got stuck in. It then fell down the hill by the river and she attempted to chase it. I ran since I knew she couldn't swim if she fell in. Fortunately, an employee of the site went down and helped her up.

Feast was good. It had salmon!

I performed my Arthurian legend saga with finger puppets. Piers was thrilled his Styrofoam Stonehenge and sword in the stone got another performance. I had Grainne, Sebastian & Tristan, and a girl helping me.

I won! I won the Pikeman's flask! I feel slightly guilty about winning for a recycled performance I'd written for another event instead of something new, but not guilty enough to give the flask back. :)

On a related bardic note, the Baroness asked me to serve a third year as Baronial Bard, so I get to go to Pennsic as Baronial Bard.
