For me first SCA project night, I decided to play my harp.
Total time looking for harp books = 20 minutes
Total time tuning harp (Pier's time) = 20 minutes
Total time looking at books and figuring out correct sitting position = 10-15 minutes
Total time looking at books (that contradict each other!)and figuring out how to correctly hold arms and hands = 10-15 minutes
Actual time playing the harp = almost nil
So, did I actually accomplish anything? At least next week, I will know where the books are, the harp will be less out of tune, and I'll remember how to sit correctly. Then I can quickly move on to more hand position confusion.
I thought ballroom was bad with un-natural positioning (back straight, stomach in, arms up, shoulders down, etc). Harp is so much more irritating than ballroom and in-line skating combined. The books really could be clearer. I feel like Joey when Phoebe was trying to teach him to play guitar by describing all the chords as hand positions. :)
