A place I truly love, Loveland Castle, (aka Chateau La Roche) in Cincinnati, OH is being besieged bureaucratically. The place was built by an amazing Boy Scoutmaster named Harry Andrews who started building the place in 1929 with help from his troop, the "Knights of the Golden Trail". Most of the work was done by Mr. Andrews over 51 years. It's a huge testament to the man and to the Scouts.
Recently the Knights found that one of their own was trying to sell them out to the city's historical society and they kicked him out. Problem was, the guy has gotten the City to harass the Castle in one way or another, trying to make the Knights give up the Castle to the City, and the Historical Society. This is no way to treat Scouts. They've already lost the hunk of land closest to the river and stand to loose much more.
This is not fair or right. If anyone out there has any connections to Cincinnati, could you please come to the Castle fundraiser this Saturday? It only costs $15 and there is a lot of food, beverages, and wonderful live music by some of the best performers from the Kentucky Renaissance Faire. If you can't come this weekend, bring yourself, your kids if you have any, and for $3 you can see how far a dream can take you if you're willing to work for it.
Edit: After talking with a Knight of the Golden Trail, I was told that the leadership doesn't want to make a fuss and involve the papers or bsa. However, I did add their website to this entry if anyone wants to email them or send them a donation. I know there's information on the situation I'm clueless about because I don't live closer to the Castle, but this is a rant, not a reasoning.
