For a while, I thought the idea of a live journal was really ridiculous. That it why I didn't post for like.. a year, or something. I guess the bigger factor was that now I didn't have Internet at home... but now I do. Mwahaha...for free. That seems to be a big theme in my life right now. Free. And I like that.
I just got back from a trip in San Diego, paid for by the James Graham Brown Foundation. YEssss! It was awesome. I love Cali. I love the temperature and atmosphere the most. People seem to be much nicer--probably because they can get on boats and cruise the ocean any time they want to. I want that.
I visited historic Old Town, Balboa Park (beautiful), the Maritime Museum, the convention center, San Diego Zoo, Seaport Village, Hotel del Coronado (THE FOOT OF DESTINY), and many other places. Our hotel wasn't on the bay, it was on the bayside, which was good enough. Too bad I love me some California. I enjoyed everything except the billion hour flights to and fro. I drank some Corona on the Coronado beach while the sun set in the west, over the hills and through the clouds. Fabulous, plain fabulous.
"Suddenly I see/ this is what I want to be/ Suddenly I see/ why the hell it means so much to me"
I think about what I should do with the next few days (months, years, decades) of my life and I can't help but imagine big things-large accomplishments. I'm already experiencing the professional world of promotions and promotion interviewing processes. Yes, I am trying to move to the Political Dept as an Administrative Asst. I've been doing Admin Asst duties for almost a year anyway, so it only makes sense. Plus, I totally want to work under Amy. She is the smartest...no, the most intelligent, perceptive, and inventive women I've ever met. She is a role model for me. And I want to emmulate her--not necessarily be her, but be perceived as an intelligent and inventive woman. Someone who can be admired by others. I want people to say, "Emily..yes, she can be relied upon. She is the one you want on your team. She's fabulous, absolutely fabulous." (can you tell that is my word of the week?)
Moving on... I was watching Friday Night Lights the other day and said, HEY, I want to download the music from the soundtrack. It is very inspiration. I would like to have that kind of music when I go on my cruise. Oh YEAH, my cruise!!! I paid a pretty penny to set sail (actually.. set propeller) to the Caribbean (Costa Maya, Cozumel, Belize, Grand Cayman Islands). *sighs* I am really excited about it. Better than that, I am going with my mother's friends, but not my mom. I wish she was going, but she says she isn't the beach type. FINE! I am! Don't lie.
Anyway... more on my life a little later!
