Day 30: Whatever Tickles Your Fancy
The last day of the meme, and more importantly the last "whatever tickles your fancy" post. God these have been tedious. I'm here to answer stuff not think of the question and the answer!
Right, bitching over.
Let's go with how I got into watching Doctor Who.
When I was a kid, my parents got divorced. I normally lived with my mom but of course spent time with my Dad. When I'd go to his house, we'd watch Doctor Who together Saturday nights. I initially watched with him because it was a way to spend time with him and he enjoyed the show. Eventually I really got into the show, enjoying the stories and the adventure and the monsters and even the sets and effects. It didn't take too long before my love for the show spiraled out of control and I began to get my hands on the Target books, seek out other Who fans either in my circle of friends or through the local Who fan club, and just dive head-first into it all.
My fandom waned in the 1990s of course, as did many peoples', due to the lack of new episodes. I was heavy into the New Adventures for a time but the novelty wore off after a few dozen of them and I very nearly dropped out of who fandom. I was always in touch with at least a segment of Who fan friends, and between that and the 1996 movie I got back into things for a time, until the next dark time with no new Who. Things resurged in 2004 or so and haven't abated since.
So... thanks, Dad. You set me off on this path and essentially I've never looked back. My life is far better off thanks to my Who fandom. The most special people in my life are there because of Who fandom. My biggest obsessions revolve around Who fandom. And it all started innocently as an 8 or so year old kid watching TV with his Dad.

Let's go with how I got into watching Doctor Who.
