I know she just posted it like, 8 hours ago, but things of this magnitude spread quickly. :} So if you haven't heard yet that heres_luck's has rejoined the land of the vidding, get thee over to her journal and bask in the gorgeousness of her new Serenity vid. It's absolutely stunning, and if you're a fan of the source it will make you fall for Mal and River all over again. And then some. I promise. :)

Ha! Stayed up all night tonight to finish it! Take that Dru. And that was even after having the guts to watch heres_luck's new vid on a short break. Course it was that or just give up on ever getting to the end of this project, so not much with the choices. :P
Dru. Dru, Dru, Dru. When charmax suggested this song, I thought, wow, that song could *be* Drusilla. I had no idea who she was singing about, but I totally understood the connection between her personality and the sound of the song. So then came the frowning and head scratching while I tried to decide whether she was talking about Angel or Spike. But, hey, at least I knew it wasn't Darla. Small favors and all.
Then it slowly dawned on me that she wasn't talking to anyone. This was all internal. Cool. Now how the heck am I supposed to show that?
Yeah, vid's done, and I'm still not sure I've answered that. This is the first vid I've ever done that was completely non-linear. Which was actually a whole lot of fun when I wasn't wanting to cry over all of the possible clip choices. For the record, I have no idea if this vid makes any sense. Which could be ok, because Dru really isn't much for the straight and narrow, but it could also look like a big jumble of lace and scary fingernails.
One of the decisions I had to make was whether to do anything to differentiate the footage of her as human from the rest of the vampire scenes. If you don't know which is which, my whole idea becomes way harder to get across. But I chose not to. She never covers her hair as a vampire, so there's that. But my major reason was that I don't think the footage looks any different in Dru's head. So I thought making it stand out would be disingenuous and possibly heavy-handed. Which, ha! I'm not sure heavy-handed and stream-of-consciousness are on speaking terms, but, this is the space where I empty all the weird thoughts I had while making these, right?
It also probably helps if you come into this vid with an understanding of Dru's doll collection considering the lyrics and title. So it's probably a context-heavy vid in which knowing the context will offer you little help.

But I tried to make it pretty. In the end that was what I was left with. Crazy vampire who insisted on not making sense, but at least agreed to look fascinating while doing it. And yet, even if the only comment I got on this was, "Whazzuh?" I'd still be happy. Thank you very much for the chance to vid Drusilla, charmax. She's addictive. It refused to be rushed, and it made me question and revise my clip choice over and over and over again, but this vid was very interesting for me to work on. The good interesting. Not the bad one where you really mean "crappy". Heh. Sooooo time to go to bed...

Comments, critique, and interesting interpretations of what Dru really meant would all be treasured. And not blindfolded. Probably.
