Of cats and plaster...

I could seriously kick BooBoo's little furry butt today. Well, if I thought it would do any good. :P

Woke up this morning to find out that he'd gotten into the fridge again and eaten the almost-whole game hen I had wrapped up for the cats, and was working on the sliced deli ham. Somebody ate that game hen anyway. It'd barely have been a few bites for Miles, but I think he spent the night in the basement where it was cool. And the other three cats, even Lily, were all acting hungry this morning. Unlike someone. ::stares at Boo::

Maybe I should just give in and let Gerry put a latch on the fridge. He can't open it if we remember to kick the bottom closed. It's not a new fridge, and it doesn't seal closed if you don't give the bottom an extra nudge. All he needs is that little 1/4 inch to get it open. He's damn lucky I find his mischief making endearing. ::tries to look stern anyway::

So. Full. ...

And plaster, oh boy! We finally found the motivation yesterday to do the rest of the major demolition for the bedroom/closet/hallway project. Goodbye plywood and 1x2 walls, hello big open spaces! (Big for us, anyway.)

When we started tearing it out, we fully intended to eventually be rebuilding the walls with real wall materials like 2x4's and drywall. Then we saw how freakin' cool it looks open. So now it looks like the closet is going to become a combination dressing room/sitting room/wierd-little-balcony. And this morning before he left for work we planned out how there's going to be a cool little leaded-glass see-through shelf and a column and big pretty curtains. And maybe stained glass in the window.

Our upstairs feels so much bigger with those walls gone. And you don't feel like you're going to crack your head on the ceiling when you go down the stairs. And a wooden column! It will be very pretty. I hope. I should find some before photos and take some now. It's no fun to just try and picture what someone is talking about when they ramble on about home improvements. ;D

And now I must go mow the lawn. And then possibly finish ripping down the acoustic tiles. And maybe try my hand at using the circular saw to finish cutting out the plaster that needs to be patched. Maybe. But, uhm, probably not that last one. If I'm running the saw, there will be no one to hold the fan in the window, and I'll coat my entire house in plaster dust. Yeah, definitely not that last one.
