Festivids FTW! \o/
So festivids is finally wrapped up for this year, and it was *awesome*. And for a little bit there at the beginning, I was really not sure that would happen, lol. At least on the me-making-things side of it all. This was me on assignment day:
Me: ::opens email:: "Lost in Austen?"
Me: ::has no ideas for *actually* vidding LiA...heart sinks, mood follows::
Me: "I've made a huge mistake."
And *cough* somehow I ended up making three LiA vids? I mean, I love the show--that was never in question. But I thought I'd been so careful about only listing fandoms I was ready to vid *right that second*. And then once I got started I was vidding the show right up to the deadline, so that'll learn me. (Not the deadline part. I expect I'll just keep doing that forever and ever. :P)
And then I saw a pinch hit that had Eternal Sunshine on it, and wouldn't you know I happened to have reminded myself that I had a ESotSM song from the same person as one of my LiA ideas? Plus the visuals in that movie and Joel and Clementine (and Lacuna) are just irresistible. When I saw the details of the request lined up awfully close to what I had in mind already, I was a happily lost cause. It's awesome to have a little kick in the pants to make vids you'd have just added randomly to your ideas list otherwise. :D
In the end I made:

kass A Roland vid for meeeeee! :D And it has Cass! And their whole crazy little family! And Roland and Cass smoke (omg hot), and Roland and Cass grow as people (::smiley wibble::), and then there's a party and shiny Jesus gets beheaded, and I am just wearing this ridiculous grin by the time it finishes. \o/ And then they smoke again during the credits. It's like this vid was MADE FOR ME. XD Also, be sure to go grab the big shiny version from her post, it's beauuutiful.
Temptation (La Belle et la Bete, 1941 - Belle/Beast) by kuwdoraHow much do I love that my begging for someone to make me stop putting off watching this movie worked! \o/ And omg did it work. XD This is *gorgeous* and surreal and hits all of my Beauty/Beast buttons. I love the sequence at the beginning where Belle is discovering the castle while her father is fleeing it, and how we get to meet and start to appreciate the Beast with her. I also adore the song choice. It's sexy and fun and has this subtle undercurrent of self-awareness that I think works incredibly well with the source. :}
The Greatest Day (The Chronicles of Narnia - ensemble) by charmax This vid you guys. ♥♥♥ I still can't watch it without tearing up. It should go without saying that these movies are really pretty, but when I watch them on their own, I'm nowhere near as moved as I am by this vid. It's honestly like she climbed inside my head and found a way to bring back the lens I saw all of these characters through when I first read the books and loved them. Before I found out they were any sort of allegory. When I thought they existed only for the sake of their own fantastical world. How Aslan makes his entrance in bits and pieces out of the corner of your eye--that couldn't be more perfect. It never feels like spectacle. I feel like every gorgeous visual is there because I'm looking at these things through their eyes. It has so much heart I can hardly stand it. Actually, judging by the tears, I pretty much can't, heh. But I love that I can't! *g*
And that's just the vids directly related to me. I watched allll the vids and holy crap people, there was awesomeness *everywhere*. I kind of doubt I'll be doing a recs post just because I'm not sure where I'd stop, but you never know. ;D
