I am still trying to find the time to finish my bedroom pic posts, but life is all like, HAH. So in the meantime here is a link to my
yuletart drawing. I hardly ever get around to making the fannish art I'd like to, so this was fun.
Don't click here if you hate certain developments in the Buffy Comics that involve girls named Buffy getting in situations where nipples might be involved...just sayin'. I had these wonderful fantasies of myself working on my art for my person weeks and weeks ahead of time and leisurely finishing it up. Maybe even having time to make multiple pieces and pick a favorite or something! What I'd like to know is when I'm going to stop having these kinds of ridiculously implausible fantasies. I have *never* used my time like that. EVER. ::hits self with cluestick::
So of course I was starting this on the Sunday it was due. And dragging it across town with me to finish while I let the puppies I was dogsitting out. Or rather, finish while I begged Gerry, with my head down as I frantically colored in hair and ran back and forth from the bathroom mirror for, uhm, references, to let the doggies outside. I knew it was due at midnight, but I couldn't remember what time zone. I think we got home at like, 11:45 (Central time), at which point I raced to the computer and heaved a giant sigh of relief upon seeing it was due at Pacific time. Whoo! So I spent the next two hours getting into Photoshop and putting some colors on it. And then submitted it at 1:59 am. ::hits self some more with the cluestick for good measure::
I really liked the idea of using the Jossverse comics requests from my assignment to do some Buffy-related art that was based off of stuff we hadn't seen in video format. Less pressure or something, heh. I was *this* close to doing something with Illyria instead, but nudity won out in the end. Like it does. So I hunted down a few reference pics and started doing a really loose sketch that was just supposed to be an initial possibility for the final piece. And then, because I have trouble stopping things, it just turned into the final piece. So it's on very fancy computer/copier paper. :P Which, while it's not exactly archival, I think has a great smooth surface for doing pencil stuff on. Perfect for sketching, not so great if you wanted to actually ink something, heh.
This version of the many ways I was thinking of portraying the two of them, was supposed to be a focus on the first-time aspect of the whole experience and how, while I'm sure it got more intense later on, I imagined it all started out pretty tenderly and gently, with a lot of lingering looks and watching for reactions. The final product looks a bit stiff to me, but that's what I get for being so out of practice. (I also still can't decide if I like it better in pencil, or colored/contrasted in PS.) Not only would it not kill me to sketch again more often, I MIGHT EVEN ENJOY IT. ::accidentally breaks cluestick over own head::
So there you go--nipple! None of which will, I'm sad to announce, be featured in my bedroom pic posts whenever I get them up.

the Master list here. After I sit down and get a chance to leave a few more comments, I'd like to make a rec post with some of my faves from it. :D
