Outstanding vid. My favorite in Premieres. I may possibly be articulate about it later. (:

Aaaaand...it's still surreal to hear that from such a fantastic vidder. Thank you. :} No articulation necessary!

We have quite the mutual admiration society going here, don't we? (: Maybe one day we can fangirl each other without the added surrealism!

Wouldn't that be awesome, hee! :D

This vid is beautiful, and it creeped me out, and it kinda made me want to see the movie and kind of made me NEVER want to see the movie because did I mention CREEPY?

I think I mentioned this at Vid Review, but: brilliant song choice. The tuneful delicacy of the harp and the awkwardness, even harshness, of Newsome's voice are just the right combination for the visuals (themselves delicate and harsh by turns), and oh the lyrics -- all fairytale imagery, beautiful and disturbing.

Hah. This vid has nothing on the movie. Fingers in front of face. Seriously.

And I'm so so happy that you liked the song choice. You are a shiny example of fantastic song choice, so it's especially wonderful to hear that from you. :}

I think my favorite thing about this vid (you know, if I had to try to narrow down the very long list) is that it's such a contrast against the other three vids you brought to VVC. And of course you are just as deft with it. The song is so haunting, and I definitely want to go rent the movie tomorrow and then rewatch the vid several times to see what specific stories and themes you drew out (and which you didn't). This vid had me enthralled from the very beginning, and that's why I asked you how long it was after Premieres--I was so impressed that a vid that long held my undivided attention (don't think I was asking because I ever got bored or was criticizing your decision not to cut the song!) This is absolutely exquisite work. And like I just told Brynn, probably the only vid that could've followed "Another Sunday" and held its own. Which is no doubt why they picked it :-) And it really, really did.

You'll have to let me know what you think of the movie when you see it. And actually, I did cut the song, heh. It's almost seven and a half minutes long. ;D

But I am happy to hear you liked the contrast. I know Premieres loves the snappy and/or happy vids, but dammit, *I* needed a little variety, hee.

Seven and a half minutes?! Good grief! Well, 5 minutes was a nice compromise, then :-)

You know, I did go rent the movie, and it was very different than I thought it would be. Whereas I assumed your vid was the totally opposite end of the spectrum from what the movie was actually about (that being: creepiness underground), it turns out the vid was very much like the movie, but better! So much of Ofelia's journey as a character felt broken up between all the war drama, so it was great to see it pieced back together again in your vid. It's a string of good choices one after another from song choice to every step of execution. I wish I could get paid to be impressed by you, because I'd make a good living.

Hee! I'm happy to hear the vid held up after seeing the movie. The movie's quite jarring at times, intentionally so though, so I was a little worried that pulling out mostly magical aspects would feel a little too easy. Though worst case, it would still have been pretty. ;D

Oh, I'm all breathless again! *gasps* Newsome is just a perfect perfect choice for capturing the otherworldly whimsy of Ophelia's journey--both the emotional highs and then underlying unease and then darkness. This is magnificent! I know it's going to be a favourite of mine for a long long time.

(And the quality of your vids is always so delicious--it must have been spectacular on the big screen!)

I think it was pretty! Premieres tends to be a blur of hoping to god nothing goes wrong. ;)

Very happy to hear you enjoyed it. Especially the song choice, because that's exactly what I was hoping it would do. :}

Premieres sound nerve-wracking.

It's so exquisite this vid--I want to keep watching it except that it drags me into scary dark territory so I can't do so too often. *bites nails* But I think that is a great compliment to your vidding!

I think that's a fantastic compliment by which I am very flattered. :} Though I have to give the source a lot of the credit. ;)

Premieres is exciting in a good way, but your own vid still tends to be something of a blur afterwards, heh.
