No one truly knows how the blood plague truly came to be. Some believe it to have been derived during the so-called “Blood Wars” between armies of demons and devils. Others believe it arose out of a mortal war, caused by a sort of arcane pollution that arose in its aftermath. Yet others still believed it to be some sort of “Grand Equalizer,” put upon mortals by Lord d'Rais, the god of death.
Regardless of its origin, the blood plague, coming to be known as, “White Glut” for the bloated, pale appearance of its victims, still has people fearing for their health as they wander the streets. Those afflicted with it become pariahs, with only a few places taking them in to live out their last, painful days.
Rumors persist, though, that a collection of clerics have stumbled upon a clue that may lead to a cure. The only thing is it requires the blood of a devil.
