So I'm back from helping my sister in Philly move to a new apt. All I've got to say is that if you move to someplace on the third floor with no elevator, seriously consider paying movers to carry the furniture. I don't think I have ever been that sore before.
We also took a short trip to New York, which actually turned out to be pretty fun. I had thought that the visit would be OK, but not anything particularly spectacular, but I ended up having quite a good time. Just walking around Time Square was pretty impressive. We went to a Broadway show called The Producers, which, although the first half was much too seedy for our tastes, was quite hilarious. The gist of the musical is that a producer has the "great" idea that he can actually make a ton of money by making a Broadway show that is a flop as opposed to a hit. The script he ends up choosing is called Springtime for Hitler... You can imagine the rest. We also visited Central Park, the Met. and a few other places. All in all, New York seems like a really fun place with tons of interesting shops and places to eat. That said, I don't think I'd ever want to live there. Interestingly enough, talking with the couple who we stayed with, the demographic of New York is mainly single people, either there to have a good time and party, or there to make it rich quick etc. Apparently most couples, if they have a kid, try to move out of New York soon afterwards. I guess it makes sense, but it's something that I had never thought of before.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to having things settle down a bit (I've spent the past four weekends traveling), plan a vacation, try to start the logistics of looking for a new place to live etc.
As a closing aside, I think it's absolutely terrible that Dwayne Wade got injured. I guess if you're a Pistons fan it's great news, but still, what kind of a way to win is that?
