My biggest worry way back when they announced they were gonna make solo movies for all Avengers before tackling the team was how the hell were they gonna make an origins movie for Cap and not turn it into one big chunk of US Imperialism Propaganda... and then they made the first movie and it was so earnest, and the whole IDEA of Captain America was mocked, and he looked just a bit too sad, and I thought it was the perfect tone to tell his story. [Ha, I just went back and found a post I made when the first movie came out. I stand by my thoughts! :)]
Emily Thorne was the one thing I didn't like much -- not Emily VanCamp per se, but her character was seriously underused. Maybe there were more scenes, and ended up cut for time/plot? We'll know once the DVD comes out, I guess. I did like that she ended up sticking to her convictions and on Team Cap in the end, and kicked the STRIKE dude's ass, but if Pierce wanted someone he trusted watching over Cap, why didn't he just use someone he knew was HYDRA in the first place?
I'm really really REALLY hoping Bucky's post-credit scene sets up the third Cap movie. I wish we had more of a reaction from him too, it's not just you. And while I enjoyed the Bucky plot a lot, I left the theater thinking we didn't get nowhere near enough of him in the plot.
